Our Projects
Access to Education
In May 2023, our Founder, Seerut Kaur Dhillon partnered with Inderpreet Kaur, who serves as the President of the Divine Deeds Chapter located in the city of Ludhiana in Punjab, India to tackle the issue of limited access to education in a local community. Our Founder devoted thirty to forty minutes to individual sessions with each child, aiming to inspire them to dream big and encourage them to pursue those dreams through education. These children range from ages 3-15. In India, a student must attend school for two months consistently and take an exam in order to obtain an official seat in school along with a uniform. With the help of Kulliewal Government Primary School’s Principal, Jatinder Kaur, out of the 42 students that participated, 37 students obtained their uniform and official seat in school!
Throughout the first month of school, our Founder and President checked in with each child daily to provide resources towards their success and growth. Students were also provided with multiple interactive lessons led by our Founder regarding safety, good touch/bad touch, and ways to achieve optimal hygiene.
According to recent data collected by the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), over 1.2 million students, primarily of elementary school age, are currently out of school in India.
Food For All
Divine Deeds is committed to providing food for those experiencing food insecurity. Statistically, about 1.77 million people in India face homelessness. However, it is not just the unsheltered population that faces significant nutritional insecurity in India. An estimate of approximately 74% of India’s population is unable to afford a healthy diet. This is due to India’s low income levels, which do not keep pace with rising food prices.
Every Saturday, Inderpreet Kaur, the President of the Ludhiana Chapter, supplies fresh food to various underserved communities in Ludhiana, India.
Paws & Plates
The population of stray dogs in India has been roughly calculated to be around 62 million while stray cats have been projected to be around 9.1 million. Divine Deeds takes passion in feeding free-roaming animals. Studies have shown that feeding animals living on the streets can reduce aggression amongst them, avoid competition for food leading to fights between the animals, help prevent malnutrition, and contribute to a more stable feral population.
